Palestine Police button (1920–1948 pattern), 22mm example of British Mandate-era police uniform insignia associated with the Palestine Police Force. This pattern dates from the establishment of the British Mandate administration in Palestine following the First World War through to the end of the mandate in 1948.
The button design features the official Palestine Police device in relief beneath the King’s Crown, incorporating overlapping Palestine Police initials “PP” in a stylised fashion, surmounted by the King’s crown.
Buttons of this type were worn on police tunics and other uniform garments by officers serving in the Palestine Police Force, which carried out civil policing, security, and administrative duties under British control. The 22mm size corresponds to use on standard uniform garments where medium-sized buttons were required.
The Palestine Police Force played a significant role during a complex period of political and social unrest in the region between 1920 and 1948. Uniform insignia from this era is collected for its historical connection to British colonial administration and Middle Eastern policing history.
Manufactured in white metal with a shank fitting to the reverse, this example represents a distinctive piece of Mandate-era police memorabilia suitable for collectors of British colonial insignia and police history.
