Queen’s Own Worcestershire Hussars bimetal cap badge, a restrike of the King’s Crown pattern associated with the Worcestershire Yeomanry cavalry regiment. The regiment originated in 1794 as the Worcestershire Troop of Gentlemen and Yeomen and subsequently became known as the Queen’s Own Worcestershire Hussars. It served during the Boer War and the First World War, including service in the Middle East. During the Second World War, the regiment’s lineage continued through its conversion to an airborne artillery role. It was reformed in 1950 and amalgamated with the Warwickshire Yeomanry in 1956.
The badge is of bimetal construction, combining contrasting metal colours to display the regimental design. The central motif incorporates a spray of pear blossom within a crowned wreath, with a scroll bearing the regimental title beneath. The King’s Crown identifies the pattern associated with the reign of King Edward VII and King George VI, from 1902 to 1952. This restrike reproduces the earlier regimental insignia and is of interest to collectors of British Yeomanry badges, Worcestershire military history, and cavalry insignia.
