Queen’s Royal Regiment (West Surrey) cap badge produced as a restrike of the pattern worn between 1924 and 1959 by the Queen’s Royal Regiment (West Surrey) of the British Army. This British Army infantry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating the Lamb of God (Paschal Lamb) as the central device, carrying a bannered staff.
The Paschal Lamb device is one of the oldest symbols used by any regiment of the British Army and reflects the regiment’s long heritage, tracing its origins to the seventeenth century. The badge remained in use throughout the inter-war period and the Second World War until the regiment’s amalgamation in 1959 with the East Surrey Regiment to form the Queen’s Royal Surrey Regiment.
Manufactured in brass consistent with service dress wear, this restrike example provides a sharply defined representation of the traditional regimental pattern.
