Original WWII US Mk. IIA1 Pineapple Grenade, post 1943, with a remarked M10A3 fuze. Marked on the front of the body “AA” (American Armament Corp, 6 East 45th St, New York City) and “2 / D” on the reverse. The bottom of the lever is marked “48 / PMC (Practical Manufacturing Company, Hopkins, Minnesota) – 1” and the top of the fuze is marked “FUZE M10A3 / K (Kodak) LOT / 22(??)19(??) 1-0”
The Mk 2 “Pineapple” grenade was a US anti-personnel fragmentation grenade used from 1918 to 1969. It became the standard grenade during World War II, with continued use in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Despite being replaced by the M26 series during the Korean War, its massive production during WWII kept it in limited use until it was fully retired in 1969, replaced by the M33/M67 series.
