Royal Air Force (RAF) 1-piece side hat cap badge (King’s Crown) restrike, high-quality reproduction of the classic Royal Air Force cap badge worn on the service side cap during the reigns of George V, Edward VIII, and George VI.
Manufactured as a single-piece restrike, this badge faithfully reproduces the wartime pattern worn on the Royal Air Force side hat before the introduction of the Queen’s Crown following the accession of Elizabeth II in 1952. The design incorporates the RAF eagle with outstretched wings beneath the King’s Crown, together with the initials “RAF” underneath.
The side hat, often referred to as the forage cap, became a standard item of RAF dress and was widely worn by officers, aircrew, and other ranks throughout the interwar period and during World War II. Badges like this pattern accompanied personnel serving in every theatre of the conflict, including the Battle of Britain, the strategic bombing campaign over Europe, the North African campaign, the Far East, Coastal Command operations, and airborne transport and reconnaissance duties.
