Royal Artillery helmet plate (pre-1901 pattern), restrike example based on the Victorian-era design used by the Royal Artillery prior to the accession of Edward VII. This pattern reflects the insignia worn during the reign of Queen Victoria, incorporating the distinctive Victorian crown associated with the period.

The helmet plate features the classic Royal Artillery device in relief, comprising a field gun surmounted by the Royal Arms and Victorian crown, with the motto “Ubique” (“Everywhere”) above and “Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt” (“Where Right and Glory Lead”) below. The design is often set within a starburst or multi-rayed backing plate, depending on the specific pattern, and reflects the regiment’s long-standing heritage and global service.

Pre-1901 examples are defined by the Victorian crown (Queen’s crown), distinguishing them from later King’s crown patterns. Helmet plates of this type were worn on full dress helmets by officers and other ranks, serving as a prominent identifier of corps affiliation within the British Army.

This restrike example has been produced to replicate the appearance and detailing of original Victorian-era helmet plates. While not of period manufacture, it provides an accurate and display-quality representation suitable for collectors, reenactors, or as a replacement piece within a collection.

Manufactured in brass with appropriate 3-lug fittings to the reverse, this example offers a durable and well-defined representation of British military insignia. Royal Artillery helmet plates of this pattern are widely collected within Victorian militaria, particularly for their distinctive design and historical associations.
