Royal Highlanders (Black Watch) Glengarry badge produced as a restrike of the King’s Crown pattern worn between 1902 and 1922 by the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of the British Army. This British Army Highland infantry headdress badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating the star of the Order of the Thistle with St Andrew and the saltire cross as the central device. Surrounding this is a circlet bearing the traditional motto “Nemo Me Impune Lacessit,” all surmounted by the King’s Crown. In each corner of the circlet are scrolls bearing the regiment title “The Royal Highlanders / Black Watch”
The badge reflects the regiment’s long association with Scotland’s highest chivalric order and its status as one of the most distinguished Highland regiments of the British Army. The radiating star design and heraldic centrepiece are characteristic of Highland regimental insignia worn on the Glengarry bonnet during the early twentieth century, including the period of the First World War.
Manufactured in a white metal finish consistent with Highland headdress wear, this restrike example offers a sharply defined representation of the original Edwardian and First World War era pattern. Black Watch Glengarry badges are collected as examples of Scottish regimental militaria, Highland infantry insignia, and historic British Army uniform hardware.
