The Royal Scots Fusiliers was a historic Scottish infantry regiment of the British Army, tracing its lineage to the late seventeenth century. The regiment was numbered the 21st Regiment of Foot from 1751 and became known as the Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1877. It maintained a strong association with Ayrshire and the south-west of Scotland and retained its distinctive identity throughout its long military history.
