An original curved brass shoulder title for the Royal Sussex Regiment, dating to the 1881-1902 period.
This title displays the regimental regional name “SUSSEX” in bold, serifed block capitals, arched to follow the line of the shoulder strap. It would have been worn by other ranks on the service dress uniform throughout the Victorian era, including during various campaigns in Egypt and in South Africa during the Boer War.
Manufactured in solid brass, the reverse is fitted with two original copper lugs (loops) for attachment.
