An original US Tank Corps collar badge from the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) period of the First World War (1917–1919). Introduced in 1918, this distinctive insignia was worn by members of America’s earliest armoured units serving in France, operating Renault FT-17 light tanks in coordination with Allied forces.
The badge is finely die-struck in bronze, depicting a detailed WWI British tank facing left, summounting facing fire-breathing dragons and a wreath below. The reverse is fitted with a broach pin attachment, typical of U.S. WWI insignia manufacture.
Dimensions
Width: approx. 44mm
Height: approx. 26mm
Condition
Very good. Bronze finish retains a warm, even patina with crisp definition and light handling wear. Reverse fitting is intact and functional. The turret is bent downwards; otherwise, no damage, corrosion, or repairs noted.
