Victory Medal, Stoker, Petty Officer William Thomas Oakley, Royal Navy.
Born on the 26th February, 1893 in Dudley, Worcestershire. He worked as a caster before joining the Royal Navy as a Stoker, 2nd Class and being assigned to:
- HMS Victory II, a shore base, on the 22nd May, 1911.
- The HMS Renown from the 11th June – 9th July 1911
- HMS Victory II from the 30th July – 28th November 1911
- HMS New Zealand from the 29th – 30th November (which became the HMS Zealandia on the 1st December 1911)
- Promoted to Stoker 1st Class on the 22nd May, 1912
- Serves in the North Sea in sweeping missions from the outbreak of the War
- Promoted to Stoker, Petty Officer on the 1st May 1917
- Returned to HMS Victory II on the 20th September 1917
- Joined the Royal Fleet Reserve on the 11th November 1919 as a Stoker, Petty Officer
- Awarded Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (1st December 1926)
Died at the age of 74 in early 1967.
Also entitled to the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (awarded 1st December 1926)
