Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) beret cap badge produced as a restrike of the pattern worn between 1958 and 2006 by the Green Howards, later incorporated into the Royal Yorkshire Regiment of the British Army. This British Army infantry cap badge displays the traditional insignia of the regiment in clear relief, featuring the crowned cross of Dannebrog badge with the Princess of Wales’s cypher “A” (for Alexandra) at the centre, above the scroll bearing the regiment’s title “The Green Howards”.
The design reflects the regiment’s long association with Princess Alexandra of Denmark, after whom the regiment was titled, and represents the distinctive identity of one of Yorkshire’s historic infantry regiments. The arrangement follows the formal composition typical of British Army headdress insignia worn on the beret during the late twentieth century.
Manufactured in white metal consistent with service dress wear, this restrike example offers a sharply defined representation of the original late twentieth-century pattern. Green Howards cap badges are collected as examples of modern British Army militaria, Yorkshire regimental insignia, and historic infantry uniform hardware.
