Embroidered cloth shoulder title for the Dorsetshire Regiment, bearing the curved DORSET title typically worn on battledress and service uniforms in the mid-twentieth century. Shoulder titles such as this identified the regiment on the soldier’s upper arm. They were widely used during the interwar and Second World War periods, continuing into the early post-war years until later replaced by different forms of insignia. Worked in contrasting thread on cloth backing, it represents a classic example of British Army regimental insignia from the era.
