An original Victorian-era Glengarry badge worn by the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment, dating from approximately 1878 to 1902. This pattern represents the early insignia worn by Volunteer Force units before the formation of the Territorial Force in 1908.

Die-struck in white metal and blackened, the badge features a crowned circlet that reads “South Staffordshire/1st Volr Batn”, within which sits the Staffordshire Knot. At the top is the Queen Victoria Crown, firmly placing this pattern from the late 19th century to the very early 20th century. The reverse is fitted with two original copper lugs (loops), consistent with Glengarry fittings of the period. Badges like this were worn on the Glengarry cap, a popular undress headgear for Volunteer battalions, particularly in the latter half of the 19th century.

Condition: Very Good, some wear to the black finish
Dimensions: Approx. 67mm x 45mm
