An original brass shoulder title for the Highland Light Infantry (HLI), bearing the regiment’s initials in bold serif capitals. This pattern was introduced in 1884, shortly after the Childers Reforms and the wearing of brass shoulder titles within the British Army, and remained in service through the late Victorian era, the Boer War, World War I, and into the interwar period.
Worn by other ranks on the shoulder straps of service dress and tropical kit, this “HLI” title served as a regimental identifier both at home and overseas.
Condition: Good. Twin lugs to reverse are intact.
Dimensions: approx. 33mm x 12mm
