An example of WW2 trench art, this piece repurposes an original Canadian-made 25-Pounder Mk. II brass shell case, dated 1944, into an ashtray or paperweight. The QF 25-pounder was a common field gun of the British Army throughout the Second World War

This shell case has been carefully modified, either in period or after the war, into a functional decorative piece, often created by soldiers or artisans as a souvenir of their service. The original headstamp markings remain clear on the base, reading “25 PR / II (Mark II) / LOT 162 DB/C (Dominion Bridge Company, Canada) / CF / 1944”.

Condition: Very good. Headstamp is fairly legible. Structurally solid.
