This British Army volunteer forces button displays the recognised General Service Corps insignia in clear relief, incorporating the Royal Arms surmounted by the King’s Crown, denoting use during the reign of Edward VII. The white-metal construction is typical of Volunteer Force uniform buttons from the early 20th century.
General Service Corps Volunteer buttons of this pattern were intended for wear on tunics and dress uniforms by members of the auxiliary and volunteer forces and are collected as examples of Edwardian British Army volunteer insignia, pre-Territorial Force militaria, and historic uniform components. The reverse is fitted with a traditional shank fitting for secure attachment.
