This 25mm button features the distinctive “NMR” cypher in flowing script beneath a crown, all executed in a bright chrome finish and set against a smooth, domed field typical of mid-twentieth century military buttons.
The crowned “NMR” monogram represents the Natal Mounted Rifles, one of South Africa’s oldest volunteer regiments, with origins dating back to the colonial era. The crown denotes service under the British Crown during the period before South Africa transitioned to a republic in 1961.
