Worcestershire Regiment collar badge (1899–1923 pattern), original example of British Army regimental insignia associated with the Worcestershire Regiment.

Manufactured in brass, this collar badge was worn on the service dress uniform by other ranks of the Worcestershire Regiment between 1899 and 1923. Introduced during the late Victorian era, the badge remained in use through the reigns of Victoria, Edward VII, and George V, encompassing one of the most significant periods in the regiment’s history.

The Worcestershire Regiment was formed in 1881 under the Childers Reforms through the amalgamation of the 29th (Worcestershire) Regiment of Foot and the 36th (Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot. Recruiting primarily from the county of Worcestershire, the regiment inherited a distinguished lineage dating back to the late seventeenth century and earned numerous battle honours through service across the British Empire.

This pattern of collar badge was worn during the Second Boer War and throughout the First World War. During the Great War, the regiment raised numerous battalions that served with distinction on the Western Front, at Gallipoli, in Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Italy. The regiment earned an outstanding reputation for courage and endurance, with its soldiers receiving numerous decorations for gallantry.

Original Worcestershire Regiment collar badges from this period are highly regarded by collectors of British military insignia due to their long service life, association with the Boer War and First World War, and the regiment’s distinguished operational history.

Manufactured in brass with original attachment fittings to the reverse, this example represents an authentic and historically significant piece of British regimental history.
