Hertfordshire Yeomanry Cap Badge (1908–c.1961 Pattern) – Restrike. Reproduction of the regimental cap insignia of the Hertfordshire Yeomanry, a British Territorial cavalry regiment dating back to 1794. The regiment adopted the title Hertfordshire Yeomanry (Dragoons) in 1908 and subsequently converted to the Royal Artillery in 1920, retaining its county identity and distinctive regimental traditions. During the Second World War, its units served as Royal Artillery formations, and the Hertfordshire Yeomanry lineage continued after the war until amalgamation in 1961, when it became the 286th (Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment.
The badge incorporates the hart, or adult male deer, associated with the county of Hertfordshire. The hart is a traditional heraldic symbol of the county and an identifying device used by the regiment. This restrike reproduces the design of the original regimental cap badge and is suitable for collectors of British Yeomanry insignia, Territorial Army badges and Royal Artillery-related militaria. As a restrike, it should be distinguished from an original period-issued badge.
