A high-quality full-size replacement medal of the 1914 Star, originally instituted in 1917 to recognise members of the British and Imperial forces who served in France or Belgium between 5 August and 22 November 1914. Commonly known as the “Mons Star”, this decoration was awarded to those who took part in the early battles of the Great War, including the retreat from Mons and the First Battle of Ypres.
This replacement example faithfully reproduces the original design — a four-pointed star with crossed swords and a laurel wreath, with the Royal Cypher of King George V at the bottom of the wreath and 3 central scrolls that read “AUG /1914 / NOV”.
