Replacement Burma clasp for the Pacific Star, issued to personnel who served in the Burma campaign during the Second World War. This metal clasp is designed to be affixed to the ribbon of the Pacific Star medal, indicating service in the Burma theatre of operations between 1941 and 1945. The clasp features the word “BURMA” in raised lettering against a narrow, rectangular backing, executed in gilding metal, typical of campaign clasps.
The Burma clasp recognises the contribution of Allied forces to the challenging jungle and mountain operations against Japanese forces, forming part of the broader Pacific Star series awarded for service in the South-East Asian theatre. Replacement clasps were produced for collectors, medal restorers, or personnel requiring replacement insignia for medals where the original clasp was lost or damaged.
Manufactured in gilding metal with holes in the corners for attachment to the Pacific Star ribbon, this example provides an accurate reproduction of the original campaign clasp. Burma clasps are collected as examples of Second World War medallic history, military campaign memorabilia, and British/Commonwealth service recognition.
