A miniature replacement version of the Ashanti Star 1896, awarded for service during the Fourth Anglo-Ashanti War (1895–1896). This medal was originally granted to British and colonial forces who participated in the expedition to Kumasi under Sir Francis Scott. Miniature replacements like this were produced for wear on mess dress or by descendants completing family medal groups.
