Original Canadian-Issue WWII Jungle Machete, manufactured by Legitimus Collins & Co., dated 1944. They were standard issue for Canadian and Commonwealth forces serving in tropical and forested theatres, where reliable cutting tools were vital for clearing vegetation and establishing encampments.
This machete features the classic broad, heavy blade, stamped “Legitimus / Collins & Co. / Made in USA / No. 1250 / 1944”, with the Legitimus crown and arm-and-hammer mark. The handle is made from a composite material and securely riveted to a full tang.
The scabbard is a light brown with an integral frog which is marked “Robco Ltd / Montreal / 1944”. The throat is riveted and the frog has a securing strap for the machete.
Condition: Very good, the blade has little wear, however the trademark is slightly worn. The scabbard is in very condition with some cracking on the securing strap and some spots of paint on the reverse.
