Description
French M1956 Bayonet, Dated 1959. Designed for the French 7.5mm MAS 49/56 semi-automatic rifle and was quickly replaced by the M1958 which is near identical but with a shorter blade, 216mm parkerised blade with a false edge, double muzzle ring design, plastic slab grips which are held in place with 2 bolts. The scabbard, made from pressed steel, features an integral olive green leather frog.
Marked under the cross guard “E-RM” (1959, Société R. Merat) and on the scabbard “MAT, F” ( Manufacture d’armes Tulle).
