22nd Dragoons cap badge produced as a restrike of the 1940–1946 pattern worn during the Second World War. This British Army cavalry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the 22nd Dragoons in clear relief, incorporating a “D” and “XXII” in the centre, with a scroll beneath that reads “Dragoons”, all surmounted by the King’s Crown, arranged in a formal composition characteristic of wartime Royal Armoured Corps headdress insignia. The design reflects the regiment’s short but active service history during the Second World War, including its role as an armoured regiment formed in 1940 and disbanded in 1946.
Manufactured in white metal consistent with wartime service dress and beret wear, this restrike example offers a sharply defined representation of the original WW2 pattern. 22nd Dragoons cap badges are collected as examples of Second World War British Army militaria, Royal Armoured Corps insignia, and short-lived wartime regimental cap badge variants. The reverse is fitted with standard hook slider fittings for secure attachment to a cap or beret.
