Not much information is known. Gunner Gerrett was likely born around 1837 in Milford, Salisbury, Wiltshire. He served in the 5th Battery, 25th Brigade, Royal Artillery, which was armed with brass rifled mountain guns, under Major Bogle, sent from Calcutta.

He likely retired in 1873.
