An original British 1937 Pattern Webbing Waist Belt, manufactured for use with the 1937 Pattern Web Equipment and issued to British and Commonwealth forces throughout the Second World War and into the post-war period. Constructed from durable woven cotton webbing with brass fittings, this belt formed the foundation of the British Army’s standard load-carrying system and was worn with braces, ammunition pouches, water bottle carriers, entrenching tools, and other field equipment.

Introduced in 1937, the 1937 Pattern Web Equipment was designed to replace the earlier 1908 Pattern and quickly became one of the most successful webbing systems ever adopted by the British Army. The waist belt provided the primary attachment point for the soldier’s equipment and accompanied British and Commonwealth troops in every major theatre of the Second World War, including France, North Africa, Italy, North-West Europe, Burma, and the Far East. The pattern remained in widespread service after 1945, continuing through the Korean War, the Malayan Emergency, and numerous other Cold War operations before gradually being superseded by later equipment.

This example is an original military-issued belt. The manufacturer’s date stamp is indistinct and cannot be positively identified, meaning it may be of Second World War manufacture or may have been produced during the immediate post-war period. Regardless of its exact production date, it is an authentic example of the 1937 Pattern belt manufactured for British military service.

Original 1937 Pattern waist belts remain highly collectable and are essential for completing British Army webbing sets, historical displays, and re-enactment impressions.

This example would make an excellent addition to any collection of British Army webbing, 1937 Pattern equipment, Second World War militaria, or Cold War British military equipment.

Dimensions

Waist: Approximately 37 inches max

Condition

Good original condition, with service wear consistent with use. The webbing displays age-related wear, minor staining, and handling marks, while the brass fittings remain functional. The date marking is indistinct, preventing accurate dating, and the belt should therefore be regarded as possibly post-war manufacture. An authentic example of British military webbing suitable for collecting, display, re-enactment, or completing a 1937 Pattern equipment set.
