Commemorative Fairbairn-Sykes commando dagger, produced to mark the 25th anniversary of the Falklands War, a modern presentation-edition military dagger manufactured by Pooley Sword. This commemorative piece draws inspiration from the classic Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife associated with British commando and special forces units.
The dagger features the distinctive double-edged stiletto blade and slender, balanced profile characteristic of the Fairbairn-Sykes pattern originally developed during the Second World War for British commandos and special operations personnel. This blued blade is etched and inlaid with contrasting gilt, with designs including a decorative scroll that reads “The Falkland Islands Campaign 1982”, the seal of the Falkland Islands, the Pooley Sword trademark, “25th Anniversary 1982-2007”, a soldier, and another Pooley Sword, London trademark. The ricasso is laser-etched with the number “159” of 200 (I believe). The hilt follows the traditional chequered grip form, manufactured in turned steel and blued, with oval crossguard and pommel construction.
This anniversary edition was produced to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the conflict, recognising the role of British armed forces during operations in the South Atlantic. Commemorative military daggers of this type are intended primarily for ceremonial, presentation, or display purposes rather than active service use.
Pooley Sword is a well-known British military sword and edged weapon manufacturer, supplying ceremonial swords and presentation pieces to military organisations and collectors. Modern commemorative Fairbairn-Sykes daggers remain popular within British military history collecting due to their connection with commando history and special forces heritage.
Manufactured with a steel blade and traditional-style fittings, this example is supplied with its presentation case.
