A contemporary miniature of the Military Medal (MM) as issued during the reign of King George VI (1938–1948). The MM was awarded to non-commissioned officers and other ranks of the British and Commonwealth forces for acts of bravery in the field, and was one of the most widely recognised gallantry awards of the Second World War.

This miniature medal follows the standard wartime and immediate post-war design features:

GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN: REX ET INDIAE IMP:Reverse: The classic MILITARY MEDAL design with the crowned royal cypher above a scroll inscribed FOR BRAVERY IN THE FIELD.
Ribbon: Dark blue with three red and white stripes evenly spaced, matching the full-size pattern.
