Original Pakistani Democracy Medal, officially titled Tamgha-e-Jamhuriat, issued in 1988 (A.H. 1409) to commemorate the restoration of democratic governance in Pakistan following a period of military rule. This medal symbolised the nation’s transition back to civilian leadership and was awarded to both civilian officials and military personnel in recognition of their service during this pivotal time.
Struck in a cupronickel, the medal features an Urdu inscription on both sides and is suspended from a swivel suspender with a dark green, white and red ribbon
