A high-quality restrike of the RAF Medical Branch cap badge produced to the scarce 1918–1920 early RAF pattern. This short-lived design dates from the formative years of the Royal Air Force, when branch-specific badges were introduced following the unification of the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service in April 1918.
This pattern features the Rod of Asclepius (the classical emblem of medicine) set within a laurel wreath, surmounted by the King’s Crown of George V and set above the motto “NEC ASPERA TERRENT” (rough things do not frighten). Originals of this badge are exceptionally rare due to the brief period of issue before the Medical Branch adopted later-standardised insignia.
Ideal for collectors of early RAF insignia, medical corps militaria, and post-WWI transitional period badges.
