Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC) Economy Plastic Cap Badge, King’s Crown

Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC) plastic cap badge, manufactured during the Second World War. These lightweight badges—often referred to as “plastic economy” or “Bakelite” badges—were introduced from 1941 onward to conserve metals for the war effort.

The Garter circlet bearing the Royal motto “Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense” with the Ordnance shield with three cannons and cannonballs, surmounted by a King’s Crown, all moulded in brown plastic typical of wartime manufacture.
