Royal Irish Fusiliers (I–Grenade–F / Royal) shoulder title (1938–1968 pattern), original example of British Army uniform insignia associated with the Royal Irish Fusiliers (Princess Victoria’s). This pattern was worn from the late interwar period through the Second World War and into the post-war era until the regiment’s amalgamation in 1968.

The shoulder title features the distinctive “I–Grenade–F” design incorporating a flaming grenade and eagle, executed in bi-metal, between the letters, together with the word “Royal”, reflecting the regiment’s Fusilier heritage and status. Manufactured in bimetal (white metal and brass), the title provided a clear and instantly recognisable indication of regimental affiliation on service dress and other military uniforms.

Shoulder titles of this type were worn on the shoulder straps or epaulettes of British Army uniforms by officers and other ranks. The flaming grenade motif was a traditional emblem of Fusilier regiments and remains one of the most recognisable symbols in British military insignia.

The Royal Irish Fusiliers traced their origins to the Childers Reforms of 1881 and developed a distinguished record of service across the British Empire. During World War II, the regiment served in multiple theatres of operation, including North Africa, Italy, and North-West Europe. In 1968, it became part of the Royal Irish Rangers following the amalgamation of several Irish infantry regiments.

Manufactured in bimetal with original attachment fittings to the reverse, this example represents a classic piece of Irish regimental insignia from the mid-20th century.
