This is a brass interlocking belt buckle of the Royal Marines, produced to the post-1953 pattern featuring the Queen’s Crown. These buckles were worn on parade and ceremonial dress belts and retain the classic Royal Marines motif of the Crown and Lion, presented within a circular brass roundel, as well as the battle honour “Gibraltar” and motto “Per Mare, Per Terram” (English: “By Sea, By Land”).

Made in two parts, the buckle features the traditional interlocking “male and female” halves, which fasten securely to form the full Royal Marines device at the centre. The brass has been cast and finished with good detail, displaying the emblem in strong relief.

Dimensions

Approx. 90mm x 69mm when assembled, designed for a belt width of 59mm

Condition

Very good, with bright brass surfaces showing only light handling marks and age toning. The interlocking mechanism functions smoothly, and the detailing of the emblem remains sharp and well-defined.
