This is a cast shoulder title of the Somerset Light Infantry, produced to the 1918–1954 pattern incorporating the regiment’s traditional bugle horn above the curved SOMERSET scroll. Introduced around the end of the First World War, this pattern reflected the Light Infantry identity of the regiment and remained in use through the inter-war period and the Second World War, continuing until the mid-1950s.
The title is cast in brass with solid construction and clear relief, showing the bugle emblem and lettering in strong definition. The reverse is fitted with loops for attachment to the shoulder straps of service dress or battledress uniforms.
Dimensions
Approx. 43mm x 32mm
Condition
Very good, with well-preserved detail and an even-aged finish. The loops are intact and secure, and the title shows only light wear consistent with period use.
