South African Defence Force General Service Medal
The South African Defence Force General Service Medal was established in 1987 by the Republic of South Africa as a military campaign medal. It could be bestowed to members of the South African Defence Force from 1 January 1983 for operational service within South Africa in preventing or suppressing terrorism or internal disorder, preserving life, health or property, maintaining essential services and law and order or preventing crime.
