The Life Guards cap badge produced as a restrike of the GRV cypher pattern worn between 1928 and 1936 during the reign of King George V. This British Army Household Cavalry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of The Life Guards in clear relief, incorporating the crowned GRV royal cypher as the central device within an circluar garter strap bearing the regimental title “The Life Guards”, arranged in a formal composition characteristic of Household Division headdress insignia. The design reflects the regiment’s status as the senior regiment of the British Army and its ceremonial and mounted duties within the Household Cavalry.
Manufactured in a brass finish consistent with full dress and service dress wear, this restrike example provides a sharply defined representation of the original late George V era pattern. The Life Guards GRV cap badges are collected as examples of inter-war British Army militaria, Household Cavalry insignia, and King’s Crown regimental cap badge variants. The reverse is fitted with standard lug fittings for secure attachment to a cap or helmet.
