Staffordshire Regiment cap badge of the pattern worn between 1959 and 2007 by the Staffordshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s) of the British Army. This British Army infantry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating the Stafford knot as the central device surmounted by the Prince of Wales’s feathers issuing from a coronet with the motto “Ich Dien”.
The design reflects the regiment’s formation in 1959 through the amalgamation of the South Staffordshire Regiment and the North Staffordshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s). The Stafford knot represents the historic county emblem of Staffordshire, while the Prince of Wales’s feathers acknowledge the regiment’s royal association. The badge remained in use throughout the regiment’s service until its amalgamation into the Mercian Regiment in 2007.
Manufactured in anodised aluminium consistent with modern British Army beret insignia, this example represents the lightweight pattern widely adopted for everyday service dress. Staffordshire Regiment cap badges are collected as examples of modern British Army infantry militaria, regimental insignia of the Midlands, and historic uniform hardware.
