William Barrett disembarked in France on the 20th of March 1915 (entitling him to the 1914-15 Star and War Medal), he seems to have transferred into the Royal Engineers Transport Branch as a Sapper under service numbers “WR.263886” (“WR” meaning “Waterways and Railways) as well as “229927”.
