Victory Medal, Signaller Edward Alexander Hodges, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR)

Born on the 5th April, 1897, Edward worked as a Railway Clerk before signing up on the 12th of May, 1916. His service history is the following:

  • HMS Victory VI, or Crystal Palace, also known as HMS Crystal Palace, which was used as a training centre during the Great War, on the 6th June, 1916.
  • HMS Victory VI, as an Able Seaman, from the 30th August, 1916 to the 24th September 1916.
  • HMS Vivid I, a Seamanship, Signalling and Telegraphy School in Devonport, on the 25th September
  • HMS Vivid I, now as a Signaller rank, from the 9th to the 28th of November 1916
  • HMS Blake, a Blake-class protected cruiser converted to a destroyer depot ship in 1907 and used as a depot ship to the 11th Destroyer Flotilla of the Grand Fleet, from the 29th of November 1916 to the 30th of September 1917.
  • HMS Blake, until the 3rd of March, 1919, when he was demobilised.

Died in August 1986 at the age of 89.
