Volunteer Battalion, Rifle Brigade white metal uniform button produced to the c.1881–1901 pattern, dating to the late Victorian period following the Childers Reforms. This British Army Volunteer Force button displays the recognised Rifle Brigade insignia in clear relief, incorporating the rifle’s traditional bugle-horn emblem and Queen Victoria’s Crown, arranged in a formal, balanced composition typical of late 19th-century rifle regiment uniform buttons. The white metal construction is characteristic of Volunteer Battalion uniform fittings of the period.
Buttons of this pattern were intended for wear on tunics and dress uniforms by members of the Volunteer Battalions of the Rifle Brigade and are collected as examples of Victorian British Army volunteer insignia, rifle regiment militaria, and historic uniform components from the late 19th century. The reverse is fitted with a traditional shank fitting for secure attachment.
