An original brass shoulder title for the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own), bearing the abbreviation “W. YORK”. This pattern was worn prior to 1924, before the regiment adopted the shoulder title “W. YORKSHIRE”.
Struck in brass with serifed uppercase lettering, this title was affixed to the Service Dress tunic epaulettes of soldiers from the regiment during the late Victorian period, through the First World War, and into the early interwar years. Reverse fitted with two original copper lugs (loops) for secure attachment via split pin or backing plate.
