An original British Pattern 1860 yataghan-style sword bayonet, bushed for use with the Martini-Henry rifle, and complete with its steel-mounted leather scabbard. The bayonet features a fullered, curved blade with a swept quillon, steel crossguard, and chequered leather grips secured by steel rivets and a leaf spring catch. Originally designed for the Pattern 1860 short rifle, these bayonets were officially bushed at the muzzle ring to fit the Martini-Henry service rifle from 1871. The ricasso is marked with clear inspection stamps “(Broad Arrow) WD / (Crown) 17 / (Weyersberg Trademark overstamped with an H)” on one side and “2/76” (February 1876) on the reverse side. The scabbard is of black leather with steel throat and chape fittings.
