Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders glengarry badge produced as a restrike of the pattern worn between 1900 and 1961 by the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of the British Army. This Highland infantry glengarry badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating St. Andrew and cross as the central device, encircled by a wreath and with a scroll below bearing the regimental title “Cameron”. The composition is arranged in the traditional Highland regimental style and is characteristic of Scottish infantry headdress insignia worn on the glengarry bonnet.
The symbol of St. Andrew, long associated with Scotland and Highland regiments of the British Army, reflects the regiment’s Scottish heritage and identity. The badge was worn throughout the early twentieth century, including during the First and Second World Wars, and remained in use until the regiment’s amalgamation in 1961 with the Seaforth Highlanders to form the Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons).
Manufactured in white metal consistent with traditional Highland regimental headdress insignia, this restrike example provides a sharply defined representation of the original pattern. Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders glengarry badges are collected as examples of Scottish Highland regiment militaria, British Army infantry insignia, and historic regimental uniform hardware.
