Victory Medal, Gunner Alfred John Hodkisson, 1/1st London Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery
Born in 1881 and registered in St. Saviour, Southwark, London. He lived in Ilford, Essex, at the time he was called up for service on the 8th of November 1916 and enlisted on the 9th in the RGA, immediately serving in the depot. He would then serve in the 3rd Reserve Battery on the 24th of February 1917 until he was sent to France on the 5th of May 1917. He went on to serve in the 1/1st London Heavy Battery RGA from the 17th of May, 1917, at this time armed with the BL 60-pounder gun.
He was appointed Acting Sergeant on the 1st of January, 1919, and was demobilised and returned to the UK on 26th February 1919.
