British L1A3 SLR bayonet of the pattern associated with the Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), widely issued to British and Commonwealth forces during the Cold War period. This bayonet reflects use in standard service, featuring a streamlined single-fullered, single-edged blade profile with a bowie-type point, mounted with the characteristic grip and muzzle ring configuration designed to fit the L1A3 rifle.
The L1A3 SLR, the British designation of the FN FAL rifle, served as the standard infantry weapon of the British Army from the 1950s through to the 1980s. Manufactured in steel with a parkerised and black-painted finish, this example provides a representative example of British military equipment from the mid-to-late twentieth century. L1A3 SLR bayonets are collected as examples of Cold War militaria, British Army edged weapons, and military uniform accessories.
