Indian Recruiting Badge (GRVI, 1940-1947)

Established in 1940, the award was presented to civilian and military pensioners, parents of three or more children serving in the Armed Forces, and wives whose husbands are serving in the Defence Force with two or more children. Additionally, full-time members of the Indian Recruiting Organisation were also eligible for this award. The obverse shows a sunburst disc medal in bronze with a raised serrated outer edge, the central disc bearing a crowned effigy of King George VI facing left within a circlet inscribed “FOR RECRUITING” surmounted by the King’s crown at the top, suspended from a floral-pattern suspension bar. The ribbon is dark green with one narrow red stripe and one narrow yellow stripe. The reverse is plain, bearing the serial number “6055” impressed at the top.
